You Are 40% Left Brained, 60% Right Brained |
Left brained people are good at communication and persuading others. If you're left brained, you are likely good at math and logic. Your left brain prefers dogs, reading, and quiet. The right side of your brain is all about creativity and flexibility. Daring and intuitive, right brained people see the world in their unique way. If you're right brained, you likely have a talent for creative writing and art. Your right brain prefers day dreaming, philosophy, and sports. from http://www.blogthings.com/areyourightorleftbrainedquiz/ |

Sariling Bait
According to John in the book of Revelation, a time will come when peoples from all tribes, nations, tongues, etc. will gather together in one humongous worship service and offer to God song after song of worship that speak of their collective mind, will, and emotion.
I wonder, after observing many worship events led by Filipinos for Filipinos, what language will be most commonly used. English most probably. Ironic isn't it? Even this blog post is in English. On the other hand, English is my fourth language.
That's my fifth language. Add to the mix is a little Ilocano, Albay Bicolano, and college Spanish. Let's not include Hebrew and Greek. Limot ko na itong dalawang huli.
I own these languages because I have come to love the people who speak them. God has allowed me to serve Him among these people groups. I can be at home in any one of these languages. I can worship in any of these languages, maybe after a little practice. Pero, there are so few worship sung or chanted or read in these languages except English. Bakit kaya ganun? When I participate in inter-church or inter-denominational worship services, bakit kaya halos lahat ng kanta sa English? Bakit puro na lang galing sa Hillsong or kay Don Moen or some other hip foreign group/band ang kinakanta natin? Wala ba tayong sariling bait? Sing to the LORD a new song! Does it have to be always in English?
We are a singing people. Music is in our soul as a nation. Bakit kaya kakaunti ang ginagawa nating awit na papuri at pagsamba sa sarili nating salita?

Who wants to master you?
Nahuli ni Lord
I preached on Genesis 12:10-20 yesterday sa church. It's about Abram being tested right after God told him his lifetime calling, formed a covenant with him, and gave him a commission. Two obvious fears ni Abrah--fear of going hungry, and fear of being killed. Sino ang hero dito? Si God na naman. God caught Abram in his lying and failure as a man of God and a husband. God showered his grace to Abram and Sarai sa pamamagitan ni Pharaoh. Nahuli si Abram sa kanyang pagsisinungaling. This man of God, "Father of faith", needed God's grace at this time.
Abram failed his test because he looked for a functional savior to save him from his "hell". What is your greatest fear? Who do you run for comfort? Sabi ni Mark Driscoll sa kanyang sermon, "An idol is something or someone you trust to save you from the intolerable circumstance you define." May idol ka ba sa buhay?
The good news is that although Abram failed the test, God remembered his call, his covenant, and his commission kay Abram. God sent Pharaoh and his servants to bring Abram back to where God wanted him to be.
"Panginoon, kung pumalpak man ako, i-rescue po ninyo ako sa sarili kong butas."

Manhood Ceremony for JJ
I just remembered that my eldest, my son Joshua, reached thirteen years old last January 3. Na-miss ko ang significance nito! Teen-ager na si JJ. Napansin ko kahapon, may bigote na siya. Two significant events have passed na hindi ko nabigyan ng karapatang emphasis. Graduation niya from Grade 6 last year at 13th bday nya this year. I'm going to make up for it. I'm going to ask some of the men in the church for a special dinner to "call" my son into manhood. Soon.
